Record a trip over several days

Updated 7 November 2026

A duty that runs for several days is one trip, not one trip per day. Set the number of days, and TripSetu gives you a card for each day, as on the duty slip.

Enter the days#

  1. Open the trip, or start it from its booking.
  2. Set Days to the number of days, for example 3.
  3. Set Nights away to the number of nights the driver stayed out, for example 2.
  4. Under Day by day, fill in each day's Date, Start km, End km, Start time and End time.
  5. Press Save changes.

Once a day has a reading or a time, the trip's start, end, meter readings and distance are added up from the days. The distance is the total of all the days.

How it is billed#

The day by day breakup is used when the booking has no Quoted fare and the trip is priced from its rate card. A quoted fare is billed as one amount, whatever the days show. See Quoted fare or rate card.

On a local package, each day is billed against the package's own hours and kilometres. Extra hours and extra km are worked out day by day and show on the invoice as dated lines.

On any other package, the day cards only record the days. Outstation is billed on the total distance.

How extra hours are rounded follows your rules in Settings > Rules. You never type extra hours yourself, so a paper bill that was rounded by hand can differ slightly.

Keep it as one block#

If you do not have day by day readings, leave every day card empty. The trip is then billed as one block from its overall start, end and distance.

Check it worked#

Open To invoice. The trip shows its amount. Once on a draft invoice, a local trip shows the package times the number of days, then each day's extras.
