Connect a Shopify store

Updated 7 November 2026

Once connected, shoppers on your product pages get a Try it on button, and your catalogue is synced into GenFashion.

Shopify is by arrangement for now. GenFashion is not on the Shopify App Store yet. Write to us and we will set it up with you.

Connect your store#

  1. In GenFashion, open Settings > Integrations > Connect a Shopify store, and enter your shop's domain.
  2. Shopify shows its consent screen, which lists two permissions. Approve it.
  3. You return to Integrations with the store connected.
  4. In your Shopify admin, open Online Store > Themes > Customize > App embeds and switch on Try it on. You can also add the block to your product template directly.

You never see or paste a key. During step 2, GenFashion stores an encrypted access token, creates a key for your store, allows your store's domains, adds the storefront widget and syncs your catalogue.

What GenFashion can access#

The consent screen asks for two permissions:

PermissionWhy
read_productsTo check that the product a shopper is viewing is one of yours
write_script_tagsTo show the button on the page

GenFashion does not read your orders, your customers or your theme.

How shopper requests are protected#

No key appears in your storefront's pages. Your store's app proxy forwards each try-on request with Shopify's signature, which proves it came from your shop. GenFashion exchanges that for a short-lived session limited to one shopper, one shop and one domain.

Disconnect your store#

Uninstall the app in Shopify. This clears the stored access token, removes the button and revokes your store's key. GenFashion keeps the connection record, so reconnecting later picks up where you left off.
