Privacy and data

Updated 7 November 2026

GenFashion handles photos of real people. This page explains how that works for developers and store owners. The binding terms are in the Privacy Policy and the Data Processing Agreement.

How long photos are kept#

Shopper photos are deleted automatically after 1, 3 or 7 days. Choose under Settings > Workspace. Within that time, a returning shopper can reuse their photo. A shorter period keeps less data, and a longer one is smoother for repeat visits.

Deletion runs every hour, and stored images are not cached, so a link created earlier stops working once the image is gone.

Photos are not used for training#

Shopper photos are never used to train models, by us or by our model providers under the terms we contract on.

Erase a shopper's data#

Send your own customer ID as externalUserId on each try-on, so you can match it to a person who contacts you. To see what is held, GET the customer. To erase it, DELETE:

bash
curl -X DELETE "https://genfashion.buildframe.tech/api/tryon/v1/customers/user_42" \
  -H "x-api-key: sb_secret_your_key"
json
{
  "customerId": "user_42",
  "erased": true,
  "personImagesDeleted": 1,
  "generationsAnonymised": 3,
  "objectsRemoved": 4,
  "erasedAt": "2026-09-13T09:41:02.113Z"
}

What is removed: the photo, the result image, and every identifier and consent record linking a try-on to that person.

What stays: an anonymous record that a try-on happened, for billing history. It can no longer be connected to anyone.

If storage cannot be reached, the call returns an error and changes nothing, so it never reports an erasure that did not happen.

Shoppers on the widget#

Create a session with your customer ID, and each try-on in it is tagged with that ID. Erasure finds the ID whether it arrived through the widget or the API.

Without your own ID, a try-on is tagged only with the widget's per-browser reference, which you can search under Privacy in the console. Shoppers lose that reference when they clear their browser data, so it may not help someone who writes to you. Their photos still expire on the schedule above.

How results are marked as AI-generated#

Every result carries two markers:

  • A visible AI MODIFIED badge, at the bottom right.
  • Metadata inside the image, which says it was made by a generative model and names the model and generation ID.

You can turn the badge off for your account under Settings > Workspace, or per call with output.aiLabel: false on the API. The widget has no such option, because its key is public. The metadata cannot be turned off.

This metadata is not C2PA. It is unsigned, so anyone can strip or forge it. It helps tools that read metadata in good faith, but it is not proof of where an image came from.
